As has become customary in Call of Duty, Vanguard has a team of operators for you to choose from. Each of these playable characters has their own personality and backstory. Choosing an operator isn’t a massive game-changer, but they do have a purpose. Yes, you can largely view these as cosmetic skins, but it’s worth taking note of each operator’s favourite gun.
My Firearm Is My Friend
As you look through the list of operators, you’ll see each one has a “favourite weapon” listed alongside them. This isn’t just flavour text, playing as an operator and using their favourite gun grants double experience. So, if you have a favourite gun and it lines up with one of the operators, you know who to choose. Similarly, if you’re going through the weapon list levelling each one up, you can bring along the corresponding operator for bonus XP.
The Operators
Daniel is unlocked by achieving 200 marksman kills. His favourite weapon is the M1 Garand. If you need help in achieving the perfect marksman loadout, check out our guide here!

Halima is unlocked after 50 kills while prone. Her favourite gun is the MP-40, making her a valuable operator to grab as quick as you can.
Polina becomes available after reaching 200 sniper kills. Her weapon of choice is the 3-Line Rifle. Here’s our recommendation for the best sniper loadout.
After 10 double kills you will unlock Solange. Her favourite weapon is the NZ-41. To get a double kill, you need to kill two people within a few seconds of time. It might be wise to use a shotgun on a close quarters map for this. Here’s our guide on the best shotgun loadouts.
Perform 25 finishing moves to add Shigenori to the roster, his gun is the Type 11.
Roland is as basic as it gets, 300 assault rifle kills. His favourite is the starter rifle, the STG44. Check out our recommendation for the best assault rifle loadout to run with.
You get Lucas for 100 hip-fire kills, fittingly his favourite is the Owen Gun SMG. Shotguns and SMGs are best suited for hip fire kills. Here’s a guide for the best SMG loadout to run while grinding this.
Beatrice requires you to get 5 kills without dying 10 times. Her favourite weapon is the AS44 assault rifle.
Good ol’ Arthur unlocks after 10 killstreak kills. His favourite weapon is the STEN submachine gun.
