Heartstopper Season 2 release date – everything you need to know

Today saw Netflix confirm the release date for the highly-anticipated second season of Heartstopper. Here’s what we know.

Heartstopper is a coming-of-age romantic comedy adapted from the graphic novels with the same name by Alice Oseman. It first aired on Netflix this time last year and was met with critical acclaim thanks to its realistic approach to LGBTQIA+ relationships.

With the show featuring a cast of diverse actors portraying healthy and realistic relationships, it is no surprise that Netflix commissioned it for a second season. Lucky, we won’t have to wait too long for it.

In a video posted today via Twitter, Netflix has confirmed that Heartstopper Season Two will be released on August 3, 2023.

For Yasmin Finney who plays Elle Argent, she assures us that we can expect a lot more from her character. “There’s so many things happening with Elle this season that you’re not ready for. I would say that Elle is different in the sense she’s more confident. She surrounds herself with people that elevate her.”

With the show also being written by Alice Oseman, fans can expect the upcoming season to remain true to the source material. Especially as Kit Connor who plays Nick reveals “Alice has got some amazing scripts for us. It also feels cool and fresh. Just a different vibe to season one.”

What can we expect from Season 2?

Season 2 is set to follow in the footsteps of the Heartstopper graphic novel series. Although we are unsure which parts of the novel may be included, we can maybe expect the Paris trip which is an influential plot point.

As well as this, we can expect a deeper dive into Nick and Charlie’s relationship as well as the relationships of their school friends. We may also see more of Charlie’s mental health battles as well as his battle with an eating disorder.

Either way, we can delve back into this world in August.
