Indie sensation Among Us is apparently the most popular game ever in terms of monthly players, according to new data.
The claim was made in accordance to the monthly players that Among Us had generated in a single month.
According to data analyst firm SuperData, the multiplayer smash hit is apparently “the most popular game ever in terms of monthly players.”
The analyst firm says that Among Us generated around an incredible half a billion active users for the month of November 2020.
Among Us actually released back in 2018, but recently became a sensation seemingly overnight thanks to a surge in streams on Twitch and YouTube.
In Among Us players are split into two teams. One team must pose as the Imposters and they are tasked with not only killing members of the opposing team and sabotaging their base of operations, but they must also remain undetected while doing so.
The second team must successfully pick out the Imposters and in order to do so they must call a vote to determine who they believe to be the culprits.
If you watch either YouTube or Twitch it would be near impossible to not see at least one recommended video from a streamer playing Among Us.
We’re not sure how long this increasing popularity will last, but Among Us doesn’t look to be going away anytime soon!
Despite the very impressive numbers, SuperData claims that Among Us isn’t making the money that it could. With its low entry cost and lack of monetisation, revenues generated from Among Us compared to its estimated monthly users are quite low, according to the analyst firm.
Among Us is free on Android and iOS, £3.99/$4.99 on Steam and £3.89/$4.99 on Nintendo Switch. It’s also coming to Xbox Game Pass in 2021.
I think if there’s ever a game worthy of making a few extra quid with some cosmetics, it’s Among Us.
