It looks like the upcoming Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster will change up the classic opera scene to incorporate 3D graphics, and real singing.
One of the most famous scenes from Final Fantasy 6 is easily the Opera House. Final Fantasy 6 is considered one of the best games in the series. And flat out one of the best RPGs ever. That’s in no small part because of the memorable moments like the Opera House scene.
In the original game, there is an actual music number sans real singing. And it seems in the Pixel Remaster, that whole scene is getting a revamp. For one, it seems that the graphics are taking a sort of HD-2D approach, as shown in a recent trailer. Square Enix have been more recently utilising that graphical style, like with the upcoming Live A Live remake.
what else is new?
The pseudo-3D look is obviously a big change up from the original game. But that honestly isn’t even the biggest change. As mentioned, the original scene featured a musical number. Before it was just a midi file, with no real singing, because it was released on the SNES.
The Pixel Remaster seems like it will feature a fully fledged song, with an actual human singing the lyrics. You can check out a snippet of what that sounds like in the trailer above, and take a look at the original scene below. It is certainly a noticeable difference.
These changes won’t be welcome by everyone. A recent trailer also showed off the famous train suplex. Except it wasn’t even suplexed, as the train didn’t go upside down. But Square Enix did say that would be changed. However, many fans just want to be able to play the original games as they are. And they would also like to play them on more places than just Steam.
Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster launches February 23, on Steam.
