A new trademark suggests that Supermassive Games might be working on a game outside of the Dark Pictures Anthology.
The trademark filed by Supermassive is for a game titled ‘The Quarry,’ as reported on by VGC. It allows the use of the name for games software, entertainment services, and computer programming services.
VGC’s sources were also able to corroborate the listing, and that The Quarry will be published by 2K. The game is planned for release this year.
The listing for the trademark was discovered by indie game developer The Marmolade on Twitter. It shows that the logo and title for The Quarry have been registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office. The application was only filed on February 17, so just last week.
Other than the fact it very likely is a video game, no other information was provided on what The Quarry will be like. There’s no way of knowing if it will be in the same gameplay style as Supermassive’s other games or not for now.
Earlier this month, The Marmolade also discovered the trademark listings for five upcoming Dark Picture Anthology games. Since 2019, Dark Pictures games have been released yearly. Which means Supermassive Games seem to have the next five years planned out for its anthology series. But clearly with the listing for The Quarry they are keeping themselves busy.
While we don’t know much about The Quarry, if it is expected to release this year, we can likely expect a trailer relatively soon.
