What is Pokemon Legends: Arecus?
Exclusively on the Nintendo Switch, Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a game of new beginnings for the series in more ways than one. Firstly, this 2022 action role-playing game is a prequel set in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’s Sinnoh region. Not only is Legend Arceus’ time period far back when this land was called “Hisui”, but way before the co-existence of Pokemon humans in the series’ world was ever established – bringing a never-seen-before element of the long-running franchise’s lore to fans old and new.
As part of a research corps, you set out with your trusted partner, chosen among of mix of starters from other regions; Cyndaquil, Rowlet, or Oshawatt; to catch Pokemon and complete the region’s first ever Pokedex. Hisui is home to a variety of unique Pokemon ecosystems with rich natural features, all with loads to discover and materials for crafting essential tools along the way. Travel across the land, complete missions and requests, as well as taking the feared and berserk Alpha and Noble Pokémon!
Another first in Pokemon Legends: Arceus is the new iteration of the overworld. Giving you the option to catch new Pocket Monsters the usual way, or using stealth tactics without battling at all, all encounters occur happen in the same hub without transitioning to a battle screen. Seamlessly blending together battle and exploration, Legends: Arceus looks as if it will feel like the first true open-world Pokemon experience.
