With The Last of Us Part 1’s journey to PC being less than smooth, it has now also been revealed that it is not supported on the Steam Deck.
We have previously reported on some of the issues playing the PC port of The Last of Us Part 1 and it seems as though the problems are still ongoing. The title has officially been marked as ‘unsupported’ on the Steam Deck’s store page. However for Naughty Dog, this is not a priority.
The Last of Us Unsupported on Steam Deck
This news comes after it was originally said that TLOU would be at least partially supported on the Steam Deck. This was said by Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann before the PC port launch. He confirmed that it would be supported for both Steam Deck and Valve but it appears as though that isn’t the case.
With The Last of Us currently hosting a myriad of issues with its PC port, it is understandable that bringing the game to Steam Deck would not be a priority for the studio right now. With Naughty Dog releasing a bunch of hotfixes and patches to get the game in a playable condition, Steam Deck users may have to wait.
Upcoming patches
As mentioned, a series of patches are coming for the TLOU PC. This includes a hotfix aimed at ironing out some performance issues arriving later today (April 4). Additionally, a larger patch is set for release on April 7.
With these being a priority, Naughty Dog have said that they are “prioritising fixes and patches before submitting [the Steam Deck] for verification.”
If you can’t wait until then, you can technically play TLOU 1 on the Steam Deck. However, you will have to put up with low quality settings. This can be slightly improved by enabling FSR and setting a frame rate cap.
