The Final Fantasy VII Remake port has finally been released on PC after two years of PlayStation exclusivity. The only problem? It turns out it’s a pretty terrible port.
Alexander Battaglia and John Linneman, of tech experts Digital Foundry, analysed the PC port of Final Fantasy VII Remake and their findings did not make for great reading. The duo took to Twitter to report their concerns.
“Alex sent his clips over for us to check out and, yeah, the PC port of FFVIIR is terrible,” tweeted Linneman. “He captured this using an RTX3090 + 10900k at just 1080p and it’s a mess. The smooth presentation was central to its storytelling and this version compromises it.”

“RTSS does not seem to pick up the framerate issues really in FFVIIR as far as I can tell,” said Battaglia. “It is telling you the game is running at 60 when it sure as hell is not. PresentMon is not reflecting what is on screen. I saw this before in The Medium” at launch, and No Man’s Sky OGL.”
The Final Fantasy VII Remake finally arrived on PC last week. Furthermore, following its release, the PC system requirements were also revealed.
