GTA 5 is nearly here for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. So, here’s everything you need to know about the new-gen port.
Rockstar Games have provided new details about the latest re-release of Grand Theft Auto 5, so we thought we’d lend you a helping hand for you to prepare for its launch next week.
How much storage space is required for GTA 5?
According to PlayStation Game Size, the download size for GTA 5 on PS5 will take up 86.837GB. However, this doesn’t include data taken up from post-launch patches and updates. Furthermore, the download size is for PS5, though I imagine it should be within the same ballpark for Xbox Series X/S.
When can I pre-install GTA 5?
You can pre-install GTA 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S right now ahead of its launch on March 15th. Of course, you’ll have to pre-order the game to do so.
What modes will GTA 5 have?
GTA 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will have up to three modes. Fidelity Mode will have 4K resolution with ray-tracing enabled and a targeted 30FPS on PS5 and Series X. The Series S version will support upscaled 4K resolution.
Performance mode on PS5 and Series X will have 4K upscaled resolution and a target of 60FPS. The Series S will target 60FPS at a 1080p resolution. Additionally, PS5 and Series X will also have Performance RT mode, which is a hybrid of upscaled 4K resolution, ray-tracing enabled and a targeted 60FPS.
Both new-gen versions also feature improved loading times, increased population, traffic, and vegetation density. As well as improved lighting, shadows, reflections, anti-aliasing, motion blur, explosions and much more.
The PlayStation 5 version will also take advantage of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Audio will also be enhanced with the PS5’s 3D Audio, while the Xbox Series X/S will feature Spatial Sound.
Can I transfer my save progression from last-gen?
Yes, you can. Players will be able to transfer both the GTA 5 Story Mode and GTA Online progression. Each will allow the player a one-time migration.
How do I transfer my progression?
This is done via GTA 5s in-game pause menu. You must upload your saves to the Rockstar Games Social Club by selecting “Upload Save Game”. Once your saves are uploaded, you will be able to download them in the new-gen port of GTA V via Rockstar Games Social Club.
However, you will have 90 days to download your save once it is uploaded to the cloud. It’s also worth mentioning that players will only be able to transfer saves from PS4 to PS5 or Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S.
Will there be a free upgrade?
Unfortunately, no. You will have to buy GTA 5 on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S to play the new-gen port. However, you can buy the upgraded version for as little as £8.75 on PS5. Sadly, it costs twice as much on Series X|S at £17.49. To claim the discounted price, you must do so before June 14th, before it goes to its full RRP of £34.99.
GTA Online will also be available as a standalone purchase with it being available for free on PS5 for the first three months from launch. Rockstar Games has also revealed that a physical version of Grand Theft Auto 5 will release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in April.
