Skyrim Standing Stones Guide: Where To Find Every Standing Stone In Skyrim

Standing stones are really useful bonuses in Skyrim. Many of these bonuses are especially useful early on. Once you leave Helgen you can go anywhere, so all of these stones are available. If you’re starting out fresh in Skyrim you might want to grab a standing stone that suits your build or playstyle. To help you out, here is our guide for finding all the standing stones in Skyrim Anniversary Edition.

This stone grants the player double magic regeneration, at the cost of taking double damage from magic. Grab this for your glass cannon mage builds. Find this one in the marsh northwest of Morthal.

This one gives you fifty extra points of magicka and a fifty per cent absorption rate on incoming spells. You also regenerate magicka at half the speed, so weigh that up carefully. North of Riften in the Eastmarch hot springs, you’ll find this stone northwest of Mistwatch.

One of the best stones for almost any character, the lady grants a twenty-five per cent boost to health and stamina regeneration. This stone is easy to get to from the Guardian stones, it’s on a small island on the lake just to the west of them.

The lord stone is great for upping your defence. It grants fifty points of damage resistance and an extra twenty-five per cent resistance to magic. Find this near the top of the mountain east of Morthal, northeast of the Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon. Approach this one from the south, the north side of the mountain is extremely steep.

Standing stones 5: The Lover Stone

The lover is another universally useful stone, particularly for new players. With this effect active, all skills gain fifteen per cent more experience. Head east from Markarth to find this stone.

Standing stones 6: The Ritual Stone

The ritual stone grants you the necromantic power to resurrect corpses once per day. Take the road east from Whiterun, cross the bridge and keep going. You’ll find this stone just north off the road.

Standing stones 7: The Serpent Stone

This stone lets you paralyze an enemy for five seconds. This also does twenty-five points of poison damage. The serpent stone is one of the most remote, it’s on an ice island in the sea directly east of the College of Winterhold.

stone 8: The Shadow Stone

The shadow is probably what you would expect, it gives you an invisibility power. You can activate it once a day, and it lasts for sixty seconds. This stone can be found in the hills southwest of Riften, close to Nightingale Hall.

This is a really useful stone to grab. The steed gives you a bonus one hundred carry weight. It also removes the weight and movement penalty of equipped armour. This one is located in the mountains northwest of Solitude.

stone 10: The Tower Stone

This is a great ability for the thieves among you. The tower lets you unlock any lock up to expert level once per day. The stone is located on one of the snowy cliffs on the route between Dawnstar and Winterhold.

stones 11,12 and 13: The Guardian Stones

These stones are practically unmissable. After you leave Helgen at the start of the game, you are encouraged to head towards Riverwood. Along the main road there are three stones, the Thief, Mage, and Warrior stones. Each of these stones grants a bonus twenty per cent experience to skills that fall under their particular banner. These are all exceptionally good bonuses to grab starting out, and great for anyone with a particular character build in mind.
