The repeatedly delayed Digimon Survive is seemingly going through more trouble, as it has been announced that it has switched development teams.
Last year, Bandai Namco announced that Digimon Survive was being delayed to an unconfirmed date in 2022. And now at Digimon Con 2022, Digimon games producer Kazumasa Habu apologised for the delay at a Q&A. And he said “we are now developing the game with a new development team,” (as transcribed by Gematsu). “Changing teams has led to a lot of rework on the game, leading to delays,” said Habu.
“This has caused a lot of uncertainty that prevented us from giving regular updates. However, thanks to the efforts of the new development team we are now able to be back on track, getting closer and closer to the completion of the game.”
Habu was unable to provide any information on when we can expect a specific release date. Since 2018, developer Witchcraft has been working on Digimon Survive. But according to the page for the game on Bandai Namco’s website, development has now switched to Hyde. Previously Hyde has worked on the party game Disney Tsum Tsum Festival.
It doesn’t seem like all bad news though, as a new trailer for Digimon Survive was shown off. And it did show a brief amount of new gameplay, of both the visual novel and the strategy elements. And the full transcription of the Q&A from Gematsu is worth a read for more details regarding the game.
