An Elden Ring player has now smashed the world record speedrun beating the game within a ridiculous five minutes. Yikes!
Ever since Elden Ring was released in February this year, speedrunners have been outrunning each other all competing for the fastest completion time.
The Elden Ring speedruns begin with finishing the game within a few hours, to an hour, before eventually hitting minutes status. However, as we now know, it’s gotten to the point where speedrunners are beating the game in less than five minutes.
These times are getting out of hand!
As reported by PCGamesN, YouTuber and speedrunner SeekerTV uploaded a video of the new Elden Ring speedrun world record. The time comes in at a mere 4 minutes and 59 seconds.
It’s worth keeping in mind that the speedrun includes the infamous “zip glitch”, an exploit that allows players to travel quickly across the map skipping various key moments. This glitch can be considered as breaking the game, however, it’s all within the speedrunning rules.
We love Elden Ring at GameByte
In our review of Elden Ring, we said: “If Dark Souls was the earthquake, Elden Ring is the aftershock. In a sense, it’s more of a love letter to the Soulsborne fanbase, incorporating dramatic fragments of each past game into a single product that is rewarding and fulfilling.”
In related Elden Ring news, one player noticed a very intriguing detail about a boss fight with Godfrey the Grafted. Prepare to have your minds blown, probably.
What are your thoughts on the record-breaking Elden Ring speedruns? Personally, I’m more into the no-damage runs as achieved by streamers such as Seki. Let us know your thoughts across our social media channels.
