Dead Island 2 was finally re-revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live with a wonderfully gory gameplay trailer.
The existence of Dead Island 2 has been one of the worst-kept secrets in recent gaming history. First announced in 2014, it’s been a troubling time for the post-apocalyptic zombie sequel. Thankfully, however, at least we can rest peacefully knowing that the living dead is officially on the way.
Dead Island 2 is alive and kicking!
The gameplay trailer is full of blood, guts as well as a plethora of glorious zombie executions. Dead Island 2 will be set in sunny LA and will offer the player a choice of six characters to choose from. Furthermore, you will be able to share the open-world sandbox with up to three players for some co-op action.
Meet Jacob!
If that wasn’t enough zombie goodness for you, then we’ve also been treated to a CGI trailer. In this trailer, we meet Jacob, one of the six playable “slayers” in the game.
After waking up in a luxurious Beverly Hills villa, Jacob embarks on an epic zombie-slaying rampage. In my opinion, this CGI trailer manages to capture the fun vibe of the original trailer from 2014. Be sure to let us know which trailer you prefer.
“A deadly virus is spreading across Los Angeles, turning its inhabitants into ravenous zombies,” reads the press release provided by Deep Silver.
“The city is in quarantine and the military has retreated. Bitten, infected, but more than just immune, you learn to harness the tainted powers running through your veins.
“Only you, and the handful of other swaggering assholes who happen to be resistant to the pathogen, hold the future of Los Angeles (and humanity), in the balance.”
When is the Dead Island 2 release date?
Dead Island 2 will be released for PC, PlayStation, Xbox as well as Google Stadia on February 3rd, 2023.
