Robber Dressed As Sonic Attempts Heist On Florida Bank

SEGA mascot and video game icon Sonic the Hedgehog has robbed a bank in DeLand, the city of Florida in the United States.

Well, it wasn’t the actual Sonic that committed the crime. It was a criminal wearing a cheap mask of the speedy blue hedgehog. So, make no mistake, Sonic the Hedgehog has not fallen under hard times.

Thankfully, nobody was physically hurt and when police were called, the Sonic imposter fled the scene empty-handed. Assistant Vice President of Branch Operations at the Florida Credit Union Brian Leatherman said: “Everybody is safe, nothing was taken, and local police are on it.

When officers arrived on scene, contact was made with witnesses who stated that a subject wearing a Sonic the Hedgehog mask entered the bank displaying a hammer and demanding money from the teller,” states the incident report. “While demanding cash from the teller, the suspect then struck the teller’s window with the hammer as he continued with his demands. After being confronted by a bank employee, the suspect fled the location on foot.

At this time, there seem to be no reports of the culprit being caught. A description of the offender has been released to the public, so hopefully, they will be caught in due time.

In lighter Sonic the Hedgehog news, during The Game Awards last year, SEGA announced Sonic Frontiers. Developed by Sonic Team, Sonic Frontier’s looks to be inspired somewhat by the likes of Shadow of the Colossus. Perhaps even Breath of the Wild.

Sonic Frontiers is expected to release later this year for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S as well as Nintendo Switch.
