Valve has confirmed that the handheld Steam Deck will launch next month and will begin shipping from February 28th. Happy days!
The Steam Deck was announced last year and this powerful little device is a handheld gaming PC that gives you access to your Steam library on the go.
There will be two Steam Decks available, each having a 7” 720p LCD screen, an AMD APU and 16GB of memory. However, depending on the model, you have the option of 64GB (£349) and 512GB ($569) storage, respectively.
Unfortunately, late last year the Steam Deck was delayed, although it was only for a mere two months. Thankfully, Valve has now updated its release date and the powerful handheld gaming device arrives next month.
Steam fans were able to place a reservation when orders became available in July 2021. Furthermore, due to the manufacturing issues that the current (and ongoing) global pandemic continues to cause, fans will have to act quickly to turn their reservations into purchases.
Be quick to claim your order
Those that are eligible for the first wave of orders will receive an email on February 25th. Upon receiving the email, they will have 72 hours to make the Steam Deck purchase. If the purchase is not made within 72 hours, they’ll be thrown out of the queue in place of another customer.
Following the first wave of orders, Valve will then be sending out new batches of emails on a weekly basis. So, if you’ve placed a reservation for the Steam Deck, be sure to check your spam box just in case.
