The recent Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next-gen update dropped in December but what fans didn’t expect was the addition of realistic vaginas.
The much-anticipated update promised ray tracing, 60fps performance mode and DLSS. However, player’s got an extra surprise with the addition of detailed vaginas including labia and (strangely) maintained pubic hair. These changes were added to the Crones of Crookback Bog (in their human forms) and the vampiric bruxae from the Blood and Wine DLC.
CD PROJEKT RED STATEMENT
The screenshots were posted on Reddit. They are of course NSFW so be warned. How this addition came about was put to the developers by Kotaku. They originally said the company was “looking into it and will have more information in the coming days,” before later revealing that the vagina update was a mistake. They then released a statement:
“The next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt features several community-sourced mods not created by CD PROJEKT RED, on top of numerous enhancements created and implemented by the studio internally. Merging everything together was a complex process and the textures in question are an unintended result present in the release version. This is something we are working to address.”
Bye bye realism
However, it now seems that these vaginas will be making an exit with the models going back to Barbie-style genitals. CD PROJEKT RED have not said when the changes are expected to be made. However, for Kotaku, they say, “the visible labia/pubic hair will be removed “as these textures were not meant to be present in the release version of the game.”
This does seem strange when you remember the company is not afraid of full-frontal nudity. At least for the women. However, there must be a difference between unrealistic and realistic vaginas. It appears if you want these characters to keep the realistic genitals, you will have to go down the mod route.
