Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon won’t adopt the exact same gameplay format as Dark Souls or Bloodborne says FromSoftware.

Last week following leaks and rumours, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon was announced at The Game Awards. In case you didn’t know, this series is known for its mech shooter gameplay, very different from the likes of other titles by FromSoftware.

Will Armored Core 6 be another Dark Souls or Bloodborne?

However, regardless of the series, it’s pretty much a given that just about any title by FromSoftware will test the skills of almost any gamer. So, fans were wondering that despite being a very different franchise, would the new Armored Core take inspiration from the Soulsborne sub-genre?

When speaking to IGN, FromSoftware main man, Hidetaka Miyazaki said Armored Core 6 will not adopt the same gameplay formula as other well-known FromSoftware titles.

No, we’ve not been making a conscious effort to try to direct it towards more Soulsborne-type gameplay,” said Miyazaki. “First of all, let me just make that clear. The essential direction of [Armored Core 6] was to go back and take a good look at the core concept of Armored Core and what made that series special.

Mech fans will surely be pleased that Armored Core 6 will very much remain true to its series roots. Miyazaki confirmed that Fires of Rubicon will see the return of being able to build and customise your own mech.

The real impetus for this project, I think, or at least one of the real appeals for me comes from the aspect of assembly, and being able to really freely assemble and customise the mech, I think, is what we really highly focus on in Armored Core.

Will Armored Core 6 feature Sekiro traits?

Furthermore, Armored Core 6 will be directed by Masaru Yamamura, who was in charge of 2019s, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Miyazaki also confirmed that there will be no similarities between Sekiro and Armored Core 6.

There are no elements directly referring to Sekiro, but I feel both titles share the same essence of battles such as aggressive, speed change, and action-oriented fighting,” added Miyazaki.

For this title, by continuing to attack even the strongest enemy, the force of impact can break the enemy’s posture and inflict a large amount of damage – a critical hit.
