There’s one weapon in particular that fans of Counter-Strike have been sorely missing from CS:GO, but thanks to a new update it’s finally arrived.
The K&M submachine gun, a.k.a the MP5 has just come to CS:GO – which was previously the only Counter-Strike game ever to not include the weapon.
With a bit of the name change, the MP5-SD as it’s known in CS:GO is available right now, following the release of a new update on 15th August 2018 courtesy of Valve.
The official blog for the game states: “Often imitated but never equaled, the iconic MP5 is perhaps the most versatile and popular SMG in the world.
“This SD variant comes equipped with an integrated silencer and features higher movement speed at the cost of some damage and accuracy on the move.
“An alternative to the MP7, the MP5-SD is currently available Offline and in Official Casual and Deathmatch servers. Equip the MP5-SD in your inventory, jump into a match, and let us know what you think!”
The new gun is actually based on a real-life gun known as the Heckler & Koch MP5-N, and has been a favourite weapons of choice for previous Counter-Strike games thanks to its low recoil and incredibly fast rate of fire.
The MP5-SD can be equipped in you MP7 loadout slot, according to the patch notes for the update.
The free update from Valve also includes general bug-fixes within the game, including scoreboard fixes and improved stability.
The notes also explain some changes to matchmaking, stating: “Lobbies advertised to nearby players and Steam Groups members will now expire after 5 minutes of the lobby leader’s inactivity.”
Another change is that they’ve added “a way to start advertising single-user lobbies to nearby players and Steam Groups members from the permissions dialog.”
