Apparently, according to a rumour, Dead Island 2 could finally release this year. Could the sequel finally leave development hell?
Dead Island 2 was first announced in 2014 with a very tongue-in-cheek trailer. While it showed no actual gameplay, it was enough to get fans excited for the sequel of the 2011 original. However, alpha footage was shown at events such as EGX and Gamescom.
To say that Dead Island 2 has had a troubled development is an understatement. For starters, it should have been released years ago. Unfortunately, it’s been passed around multiple studios leaving fans concerned if it will ever be released. Dead Island 2 is currently in development with UK based Dambuster Studios,
Recently, we’ve heard conflicting rumours as to when Dead Island 2 might release. Some say that it will be released this year, while others say it won’t arrive until 2023.
When will Dead Island 2 be released?
The most recent rumours are courtesy of Colin Moriarty, former IGN journalist and host of the Sacred Symbols podcast. He believes that Dead Island 2 could be released this year. Moriarty claims that his sources state that there could be a reveal soon with the game launching in 2022.
Personally, despite its developmental troubles, I still believe that Dead Island 2 will release, eventually. However, at this time, we can only speculate as to when it might arrive. That being said, judging by all the rumours, Dead Island 2 should arrive by 2023 at the latest.
