In a recent interview, Blizzard has revealed more about the upcoming Battle Pass for Diablo 4. Here’s what we know about how it will work.
Now that players have had a glimpse of what Diablo 4 will be like thanks to its open beta, attention has turned to what we can expect from its full launch. Although we have to wait until June, Blizzard have recently spoken to PC Gamer about what we can expect.
Diablo 4 Will Be a Big Time Sink
What we can take from the interview is that Diablo 4 is full to the brim with content. With it being a live-service title, the game continues way beyond the campaign and a hearty Battle Pass will be a big incentive for end-game content.
Associate game director Joe Piepiora says the game’s Battle Pass will take “roughly 80 hours” to complete. Furthermore, you will have to keep playing in order to meet max level so you can be expected to put 90-100 hours in per season.
“Right now, the battle pass, when you’re figuring in completing the season journey alongside doing other content in the game, you’re looking at roughly 80 hours worth of time invested to complete the entirety of the battle pass,” says Piepiora. “To level a character to level 100 could take a little longer than that based on how you play.”
How long will each season be?
As is the theme with Diablo titles, Diablo 4 will be split into Seasons which will last around three months. This means you will have ample time to grind the Battle Pass and get your characters up to max level.
Participating in end-game content will earn you Battle Pass progress known as ‘favour’. By working your way through it you can gain XP boosts for all characters as well as going down the premium route for cosmetics.
Piepiora also acknowledges that despite the time sink, the team wants the game to be fun for everyone.
“One thing I do want to make sure it’s really clear is we’re not trying to create a situation where players feel that they must play forever,” he says. “We want players who play Diablo 4 to play and enjoy the experience while they’re playing the game.”
