The Last of Us multiplayer game is Naughty Dog’s most “ambitious project” yet, according to the studio’s co-president, Neil Druckmann.
We’re still being left in the dark as to when the standalone multiplayer offering set within The Last of Us universe will be released. However, Naughty Dog is ensuring that its hype wagon continues to roll.
How good will The Last of Us multiplayer be?
When talking to ComicBook.com, Druckmann teased that the multiplayer spin-off is the “most ambitious project” from Naughty Dog. This is certainly a strong statement to make, considering the studio is not only responsible for The Last of Us, but also the likes of Uncharted.
The Last of Us multiplayer game was intended to be a new form of Factions mode first seen in the original game. However, as time progressed, this multiplayer mode became its own game.
Druckmann also revealed during the interview that the multiplayer offering has been in development “for a long time”, even before the 2020s The Last of Us: Part 2.
What’s more, Druckmann teased that the multiplayer game will be “expanding the [Last of Us] world even further” by telling a story from a new perspective.
When is The Last of Us multiplayer release date?
At this time, we still do not have a release date for The Last of Us multiplayer game. That being said, some are expecting it to launch sometime this year. However, as part of the 10th anniversary of the series, Naughty Dog released a new concept art image for the multiplayer project.
The concept art image in question featured two individuals at a distance in an abandoned location. Oh, and it also featured a massive cruise ship that had somehow crashed its way onto the shore.
