The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next-gen update won’t pop Trophies or Achievements when a save is transferred. Which is a little disappointing.
Last week we were treated to The Witcher 3 next-gen update. During a 30-minute livestream by developers CDPR, we saw all the new and improved features of the update in real-time. However, CDPR has promised to save some secrets for its launch.
Like Cyberpunk 2077, you won’t be hearing that pop
However, just like the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077, Trophies there will not pop for PlayStation gamers.
Spotted by Gamesradar, a fan asked CDPR global community manager whether Trophies/Achievements will automatically pop when a save is transferred to PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.
Responding to fan questions, Marcin Momot addressed the concerns of fans and it’s perhaps not the news that many wanted to hear.
“Seeing a lot of questions about this one. Achievements are platform-specific, meaning they don’t carry over when transferring your save between platforms. They will have to be unlocked again.”
Those that were looking to carry their campaign on The Witcher 3 next-gen update might be disappointed that previously existing Trophies and/or Achievements won’t automatically follow a save transfer.
That being said, if you’re new to The Witcher 3 or a returning fan planning on starting a new campaign, this won’t be much of an issue.
However, I would imagine that if you’re playing from Xbox One to Series X|S, you will be fine thanks to the console’s Smart Delivery. What’s more, PC players should also be fine as the next-gen improvements will be delivered via a standard update.
Are you disappointed that Witcher 3 Trophies won’t pop?
So, it seems the issue will be with transferring save data from a different platform to PS5 and/or Xbox Series X|S. Likewise from PS4 to PS5. That being said, are you disappointed that last-gen Trophies won’t pop when transferring data?
In related news, the newest Netflix adaptation, The Witcher: Blood Origin arrives on the streaming platform next month on December 25th, 2022. Happy Christmas!
The Witcher 3 next-gen update also arrives next month on December 14th for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
