Resident Evil developer leaves Capcom after nearly 30 years

Resident Evil developer, Hiroyuki Kobayashi leaves Capcom after nearly 30 years with the Japanese company.

Hiroyuki Kobayashi joined Capcom way back in 1995 and has helped to create some of the best video games of all time. Kobayashi parted ways with Capcom after a very eventful, and successful 27 years.

Kobayashi is a Capcom Resident Evil legend!

Kobayashi has not only helped to create some of the best Resident Evil games ever (including the 1996 original) but he’s also worked on Dino Crisis, Devil May Cry, Dragon’s Dogma, Mega Man and much more.

Interestingly in a statement posted on social media, Kobayashi revealed that he actually left Capcom on March 1st, 2022. However, he chose to announce his departure on his 50th birthday which falls on August 12th. Happy belated birthday, Kobayashi-san!

Kobayashi leaves Capcom to join NetEase

Kobayashi has left Capcom to join NetEase in another producer role. If you’re unfamiliar with NetEase, they primarily develop mobile games and its most recent release is the infamous, Diablo Immortal.

Today, 12th August, is my 50th birthday,” said Kobayashi. “As such, I would like to share something very special with everyone: After serving 27 years with gratitude, I departed from Capcom on 1st March and will be officially joining NetEase as a producer.
