Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was recently delayed until April 28 but to tie us over, a new 9 minute gameplay video has been released.
Exploration and combat
Courtesy of IGN, a new gameplay video just released that shows us exploration and combat from the early stages of the game. It starts on the planet of Koboh where our protagonist Cal Kestis, has crash landed. His goal is to scour this planet to find resources to fix his ship.
Along the way, he must use his trusty lightsaber to fight droids, galactic wolves, alligators and even birds. Probably not a game for fans of animals. We then see Kestis as he explores caves, examines stunning vistas and scales crumbling cliff tops. The 9 minute video definitely gives us a feel of what to expect.
However, it does appear that fans are having a difficult time getting to grips with the walking/running animations in the game. A Reddit user picked up on this change from the first game and we must admit it looks a little strange.
Nevertheless, fans are enjoying the teasers of the new combat. With Kestis seemingly interacting with the terrain to aid him in battle more so than he did in Fallen Order, it seems combat will be a lot more fluid. Additionally, with the lightsaber animations looking a lot more epic, fans are happy to excuse the walking.
Despite recently being delayed six weeks, Jedi Survivor is still one of the most anticipated sequels of 2023. With Respawn promising “performance enhancement, stability and polish” on its end product, April 28 couldn’t come soon enough.
Until then, the prequel, Star Wars: Fallen Order, is available to play on Playstation 4&5, Xbox One and Series X/S and PC.
