Deathloop is finally coming to Xbox this month following a year of exclusivity to Sony’s PlayStation 5 console. Happy Days!
Despite being a Bethesda title, a company now owned by Microsoft, Deathloop had remained exclusive to PlayStation 5 for at least a year. The reason being is due to an already existing contractual agreement between Sony and Bethesda, prior to the Microsoft takeover.
Deathloop was a timed-exclusive
So, with that in mind, now that the year of timed exclusivity has passed, Deathloop is finally coming to Xbox Series X|S on September 20th. Furthermore, it will also feature cross-play matchmaking for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
However, that is not all, because alongside its September 20th launch, is the Goldenloop Update. This update not only brings the cross-play matchmaking, but also a new weapon, a new ability, new enemy types, an extended ending and more.
Deathloop will come to PS Plus and Xbox Game Pass
Ahead of its September 20th launch, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can pre-install the game to the Series X|S consoles. If you wish to buy the game outright, you can also pre-order it now too.
Furthermore, speaking of subscribers, also on September 20th Deathloop will be added to the PS Plus Extra and Premium subscription tiers for PlayStation 5. So hopefully the cross-play online player numbers should be nice and healthy across the board.
And here’s the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Game Catalog additions:

Could Ghostwire: Tokyo be next?
In related news, another Bethesda game that was honoured as a PlayStation timed-exclusive due to an already existing deal with Sony is Ghostwire: Tokyo.
However, this supernatural action adventure didn’t release for PC and PS5 until March 25th, 2022. This means that we could be waiting another six months until it arrives on Xbox.
