Anime Superfan Quits Job To Devote Life To Collecting Dragon Ball Merch

I thought I was Dragon Ball nerd for having DBZ bedding, but superfan Hitoshi Uchida has put me to shame with his record-breakingly-huge collection of memorabilia from the manga, shows and movies.

Uchida, who quit his job to devote all of his attention to collecting and improving his Dragon Ball collection, has now officially broken the Guinness World Records collection record title for the biggest DB collection [via Kotaku].

So, just how many Dragon Ball items does Uchida have? Well, according to the world record, there are over 10,098 different Dragon Ball items owned by the superfan – including over 4000 Goku figurines.

A celebratory video which shows off Uchida’s insanely impressive collection has popped up on the Guinness World Records YouTube channel. Check it out in all its glory below.

In the video, Uchida admits that this is just one step towards completing his ultimate goal: Uchida wants to meet Goku’s Japanese voice actor, Masako Nozawa.

“By attempting that record, even if I throw my life away, my wish to meet Masako Nozawa is really strong right now,” says Uchida.

Let’s hope Nozawa takes note of this incredible achievement!

Uchida’s not the only Dragon Ball fan to break a world record in 2019. Back at San Diego Comic Con earlier this year, fans came together to complete the world’s largest-ever Kamehameha.

SDCC is a great time for fandoms to come together and show their love and appreciation for the franchises they love, and this year it was the Dragon Ball Z fans that did their bit for the cause.

Hundreds of people came together to perform the iconic move from the manga and anime in one of the purest displays of unity seen this year.
