Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has been impressing anime fans left, right and centre since launch, but the appearance of a character who appears to be the one and only Professor Oak is raising questions.
Over on the DBZ Kakarot subreddit [via TheGamer], a player of the game shared a screenshot of a character who looks more than just a little familiar. The Professor Oak lookalike is a Capsule Corporation Employee, and just so happens to share more than a resemblance with the Pokémon professor.
With the same hair colour, bushy eyebrows and somewhat startled expression, this Capsule Corp employee may have migrated all the way from Pallet Town. With the text alteration from the Redditor, this really could be a screenshot from the next Pokémon game.
Here he is again, this time as an actual professor (though not of pocket monsters, and instead a Pterosaur Professor).
Whether or not this is an homage to Professor Oak from some Kakarot devs, or this is just a strange coincidence, we might never know.
However, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the worlds of Pokémon and Dragon Ball seemingly collide. Over the years numerous people have compared the designs of Mewtwo and Frieza, who both share a similar segmented body and colour palette.
Strange Pokémon coincidences aside, Dragon Ball: Kakarot has definitely lived up to the high expectations set by fans of the anime and manga. Players have been crying out for an RPG set in the world of Dragon Ball, and Kakarot comes very close to being the perfect DBZ game.
Set in the early days of the DBZ anime, the game follows the adventures of Goku and pals as they try and save the world.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
