Jurassic World Dominion has the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score of the whole Jurassic franchise. Ouch.
When writing, the final Jurassic film has a Tomatometer rating of just 38%. That’s less than the 71% Jurassic World achieved and the 47% given to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. It’s a disappointing way to end the dinosaur franchise. In comparison, the original Jurassic Park film has a mega 92% Rotten Tomatoes score.
An early review from The Observer said Jurassic World Dominion “seems hellbent on demonstrating just how out of gas it is” while Little White Lies calls the conclusion to the Jurassic era “a shameful triumph of corporate greed”.
Jurassic World Dominion is the conclusion to the Jurassic franchise. The movie is set four years after the events of Fallen Kingdom. The original Jurassic theme park has been destroyed and dinosaurs are living amongst humans. Familiar faces Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt are back in action for the franchise’s last bow. There are also a few more familiar faces onboard.
Appearing alongside Howard and Pratt are Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill. Jurassic Park fans should have been ecstatic that the trio were reprising their roles as Ellie Sattler, Ian Malcolm and Alan Grant. However, with a low box office projection and poor reviews, it isn’t boding well for the forthcoming film.
Box Office Predictions
The $125 million domestic box office projection for the film is much lower than what was originally predicted for the opening weekend ($165-205 million). It’s not all doom and gloom for the final film, however. If fans aren’t influenced by low scores and negative reviews, there could be a dramatic boost in the domestic box office projection. Time will only tell, however.
The Rotten Tomatoes rating for Jurassic World Dominion is expected to fluctuate once a larger audience has watched the movie. Right now, there isn’t an audience score to take into consideration either. Watch this space for updates.
Jurassic World Dominion is the sixth and final film of the Jurassic franchise. It follows Jurrasic Park (1993), The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Jurassic Park III (2001), Jurassic World (2015) and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018). It will premiere in UK cinemas on Friday 10 June.
