Xbox Game Pass is coming to Meta Quest 2, the partnership was revealed during this week’s Meta Connect event.
This is a massive deal for owners of the Meta Quest 2. While a fantastic headset, the Meta Quest 2 isn’t known for its fantastic game deals via its digital store. When Xbox Game Pass arrives on the VR device, it will be a great way for owners of the system to try a plethora of games they might not otherwise try.
Xbox Game Pass grows in value
Furthermore, this will also be the first time that Microsoft’s ever-popular ‘Netflix for games’ service will be coming to a VR platform. Before now, Xbox Game Pass has branched out to PC. So, if this move proves to be a success, it might open the door for Xbox Games Pass to come to other platforms.
Which Xbox Game Pass titles are coming to Meta Quest 2?
During the Meta Connect event, it was stated that not all Xbox Game Pass titles will be playable on the Meta Quest 2. “You’ll be able to play 2D games with your Xbox controller projected on a massive screen on Quest,” said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
However, just like the Xbox and PC service, additional games will arrive in the Meta Quest 2 library. Hopefully, Microsoft’s subscription service might also offer some native Meta Quest 2 games to choose from. Though that’s just speculation on my part.
What other Microsoft services were announced?
During the event, Meta also announced that it is working with Microsoft to bring software such as Microsoft 365 to the VR platform.
What else do I need to know?
In order to access Xbox Game Pass on Meta Quest 2, you will need an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription and not the basic tier. Furthermore, Xbox controllers can be linked to the VR device via Bluetooth.
When will Game Pass come to Meta 2?
At this time, a release date hasn’t been announced as to when Xbox Game Pass will be coming to Meta Quest 2.
In related news, the Meta Quest Pro was announced and it will be released this month. However, it does come with a very hefty price tag!
