Garlic bread is officially the most powerful food in Skyrim and fans are obsessed. And honestly – who doesn’t love garlic bread?
Fitness fans will know about the power of carb-loading, but in Skyrim eating a healthy portion of garlic bread has some even beefier benefits. The game’s description for the item reads: “Restore 1 points of health. Cures all diseases.“
According to the Skyrim wiki, the delicious cure-all has just three ingredients: garlic, butter and bread. If you fancy having a go at making it for yourself, there is an official Skyrim cookbook available. The Elder Scrolls: The Official Cookbook by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel was published in 2019 and includes over 60 recipes – including garlic bread. The introduction to the recipe in the book reads:
“Nothing pairs with a nice hearty soup quite like a slice or two of thick bread topped with butter and garlic. This easy and quick recipe makes enough for surprise guests or a whole family, and as an added bonus, garlic is good for your health, stamina, and magicka.”
The small joys of Skyrim
Members of the Reddit board on Skyrim have been discussing this fun feature of the game, as reported by GAMINGbible. It’s the latest of stories of small joys to be found in the game, from bees sending carts flying in early stages of development and the introduction of a mod that lets you pat dogs.
You may be new to the joys of magical garlic bread in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The tasty snack was introduced to Skyrim in the second of the game’s expansions: Hearthfire. The expansion was released by Bethesda on Xbox and Steam in 2012, making its way to PS3 the following year.
The powerful quirk of garlic bread being able to cure any disease was highlighted on Reddit by user u/Senpaineapple last week. They wrote: “Garlic bread curing all diseases will forever be my favourite mini detail in Skyrim.”
