Xbox chief Phil Spencer has claimed that the forthcoming RPG Elden Ring from Dark Souls developer FromSoftware is their “most ambitious” game yet.
When talking to GameSpot, Spencer expressed that he’s a fan of FromSoftware director’s work “as somebody who’s played all of [Hidetaka] Miyazaki’s games over at least the last decade.”
Spencer went on to say when referring to Elden Ring that “this is clearly the most ambitious game that [Miyazaki has] done.”
Spencer added: “I love his games, but seeing some of the gameplay mechanics stuff that he’s tackling, he and the team are tackling this time of the setting, working with another creator in terms of story. I love it.“
Perhaps more excitingly, Spencer has revealed that he’s played “quite a bit” of Elden Ring, so at least we know there is a playable build of the upcoming RPG somewhere in the wild. This is huge in itself, as we’ve heard next to nothing about Elden Ring for quite a while now.
Spencer also revealed that he’s not a very good player, referencing the notoriously difficult FromSoftware games. He explained that Miyazaki would often leave the room when the Xbox chief is playing the likes of Elden Ring.
“I think that’s because I’m a bad player, and then when he comes back we’ll have a conversation about things that I think,” he told the publication.
Despite being announced at E3 2019 we’ve seen very little of Elden Ring and fans are wondering when we’ll see more of the next game developed by FromSoftware.
So while we wait for more information on Elden Ring we can at least watch its announcement trailer from last year, again.
There is no release for Elden Ring at the time of writing, but we do know that it was announced for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
However it’s also very likely that Elden Ring will also come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
