The Borderlands series has established itself as one of the most unique first-person shooters in the industry. Based on it’s selling power alone, it comes as no surprise that 2K announced a spin-off title called Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands last year during E3. Following the character of the same name, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is also a first person shooter just like Borderlands. It’s biggest distinguishing factor is that it follows a more role-playing and fantasy setting.
Announced during E3 last year, 2K showed off Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands with a reveal trailer. Even in the teaser trailer, you can see how visibly different the game is from Borderlands. Featuring dragons, magic and plenty of references to Dungeons & Dragons, the trailer showed it was more than a simple spin-off. It also revealed just how star-studded the cast is. Andy Samberg, Will Arnett and Wanda Sykes will voice characters in the game. Ashley Burch is also set to return, voicing Tina.
Players will be able to customise their own character, who plays through a game of dungeons and dragons controlled by Tiny Tina. Wonderland will take place directly after Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, which was a DLC addition for Borderlands 2. Tiny Tina will once again be the dungeon master. She has the ability to change the world on the fly, so expect lots of unusual circumstances.
When will Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands release?
Gearbox has worked on Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands for upwards of ten year. The concept has been around for some time, which is likely what led the team to try it with the Borderlands 2 DLC. Providing there aren’t any last minute delays, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will release on March 25th globally. Considering the unusual world that we lived in now, a last minute delay wouldn’t be unlikely.
Tina Tina’s Wonderlands will launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC. It will also be available on last gen consoles as well, meaning players with an Xbox One or PlayStation can enjoy the game when it launches as well. The next gen iterations of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will feature 4K Support and a 60fps mode. Like most games, players will need to choose between one or the other, as opposed to having both. Players on Xbox will be able to play with other console generations and those on PC.
Just like any other high profile release, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will release with numerous editions. There’s the standard game release, which varies in price across generations. There’s also the Next Level edition which comes with a number of ingame items including weapons and armour. UK retailer GAME has a special edition which features a number of ingame items, the season pass and lots of physical goodies, if you are into that kind of thing. For players that intend to purchase a digital copy, there is the standard edition and a Chaotic Great edition. The latter features ingame goodies for the player to download at launch.
