A God of War modder has now added in Mjolnir, Thor’s legendary hammer, to the game available for Kratos to use.
YouTuber and modder Omega Fantasy has revealed their latest mod for God of War. It showcases Kratos cutting down enemies with the legendary hammer of Thor, a weapon not available in-game and (spoilers) is only teased in a post-credits scene.
You can check out the mod in all its glory by watching the video below.
How is this possible? Omega Fantasy has utilised a very basic model swap to allow Kratos to wield Mjolnir. It seems he’s worthy enough to hold the hammer, as the video shows him fighting Modi and Magni in the respective boss fight scene they appear in.
WAIT, WHAT?
What’s especially funny about this video is Magni and Modi are the sons of Thor. So Omega Fantasy has deliberately framed this video to show a character resembling Thor fighting his own spawn. Talk about a Greek tragedy!
When God of War was originally announced for PC last year, it was only a matter of time before our minds wandered to what modding possibilities there could be. One month since its launch, we’ve seen God of War running in Potato Mode, and another mod that gives Kratos a Tom Selleck-style makeover.
The Mjolnir weapon mod for God of War is available through Omega Fantasy’s Patreon. It’ll become available for free later on after a period of early access. Of course, this goes without saying but the mod isn’t available to PlayStation users.
