A fan has lovingly recreated Pallet Town from Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen in a 2.5D graphical style.
Many players will have started their Pokemon journey in the original Pokemon Red and Blue games. Setting off from Pallet Town, trainers would head out into the wider colourful world. Of course, the games were later remade for the Game Boy Advance, Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. And now, a fan has updated Pallet Town to have a 2.5D look, giving the town a lot more depth.
Reddit user StarborgDev shared their creation in the r/pokemon subreddit, showing off a video of the recreation in action. Some of the textures are still in 2D, like the player sprite, but the buildings now have sides to them. It looks more like what you would find in the later games like Pokemon Black & White.
It really helps bring Pallet Town to life just that little bit more. One commenter also compared it to Paper Mario by calling it Pokemon: The Thousand Year Door. We can certainly see the resemblance.
Last year was the 25th anniversary of Pokemon, and we saw a range of ways to celebrate. Just recently, a collaboration with Converse was announced, with a selection of Chucks and other clothing to purchase.
We of course also got the announcement of two sets of new Pokemon games. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl came out last November. And soon players will be able to dive into the past with Pokemon Legends Arceus, launching January 28.
