In the weeks leading up to Elden Ring, people started getting a bit worried. Some people had some chill, pretty normal worries: what if the game isn’t good? What if my PC can’t run it? The Elden Ring subreddit had a few jokes to make about that kind of thing. But one Elden Ring fan had probably the biggest concern of them all: dying.
A couple of weeks ago, Reddit user OLD_WET_HOLE posted to the subreddit “Is anyone else having genuine anxiety about dying before Elden Ring comes out? I drank two cups of coffee this morning, my heart fluttered a bit and my first thought was ‘Oh God please no, not before Elden Ring.’ I am 28 years old. I feel ridiculous.“
Thankfully, we have the update you all want to hear: they didn’t die! Two days ago (March 1), Reddit user oddreplicant posted a screenshot of that original post hoping that OLD_WET_HOLE was alive and happy.
Someone then tagged them in, and we got a confirmation that they are both alive and happy. When asked how it’s going, OLD_WET_HOLE responded “Excellent! I can enjoy coffee now with no fear in my heart. Elden Ring somehow managed to exceed my ridiculous expectations.” If that isn’t just the heartwarming story we need at the moment.
Thankfully, Elden Ring is proving to be a hit across the board. It’s one of the highest rated games of all time, as seen by the plethora of top scores. Gamebyte’s own review gave it a 9.5/10, saying “If Dark Souls was the earthquake, Elden Ring is the aftershock. In a sense, it’s more of a love letter to the Soulsborne fanbase, incorporating dramatic fragments of each past game into a single product that is rewarding and fulfilling.“
