Fans of Grand Theft Auto may have spotted a clue to the setting of Grand Theft Auto 6 in the latest trailer for GTA V.
Twitter user DANNYonPC seems to have noticed a hint about the time setting of GTA 6 in a trailer for GTA V and Grand Theft Auto Online. Diving into the latest trailer, he zoomed in on the number plate of one of the cars:
“In the latest GTAV trailer there’s this license plate
“6 is a late 90’s”

We’ve captured a screenshot of the license plate in question, which reads 613AL890 (or ‘6 is a l8 90s’ if we believe DANNYonPC).

Rumours about GTA6
Other Twitter users were quick to dismiss Danny’s theory, replying that it was just a random number plate. However, fans of the series are always hungry for hints about the direction of the next instalment of Grand Theft Auto. Grand Theft Auto 6 hasn’t even been officially announced yet – but there are already so many rumours about it online. TechRadar have compiled a handy list of GTA 6 rumours. Will GTA 6 take place in South America? Will the game be out in 2024? Kotaku speculates that the game is already in development:
“One plan that management has laid out for the next game, a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, is to start out with a moderately sized release (which, by Rockstar’s standards, would still be a large game) that is then expanded with regular updates over time, which may help mitigate stress and crunch.”
