The GTA Remastered Trilogy file sizes have been revealed and we now know much hard drive space you will need to free up.
Last month after all the rumours and speculation, the GTA Remastered Trilogy was officially confirmed by Rockstar Games. We also learned that the collection will have the tongue-twisting title of ‘Grand Theft Auto: The Definitive Edition – The Trilogy.’
This collection of games will include remasters of GTA 3, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas. Each of the three games will have remastered visuals, an updated user interface and modern controls inspired by GTA 5.
However, we’ve not known how much hard drive space the remastered collection will take up. That was until now and it’s perhaps not as bad as you might think. Firstly, the revealed file sizes are for the PlayStation 4. Though I would imagine that the file sizes will be around the same ballpark for each of the respective platforms.
The file sizes were revealed by the Twitter account called PlayStation Game Size. The Twitter account also included the PS2 file sizes, so that we can compare them to the modern PS4.
So, how much hard drive space with the GTA remasters take up?
- GTA 3 is 5.293GB (PS4) compared to 1.569GB (PS2)
- Vice City is 10.768GB (PS4) compared to 2.392 (PS2)
- San Andreas is 22.679GB (PS4) compared to 3.320GB (PS4)
In total the original PS2 games amount to 7.28GB, but the PS4 versions weigh in at 38.74GB. Which to be fair isn’t that bad, considering all the improvements that have been made to the remasters.
