At the time of writing, the newly released GTA Remastered Trilogy has a low Metacritic score of 0.4 following a review bomb campaign.
The GTA Remastered Trilogy was released for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch last week. This collection was supposed to be a celebration of the 20th anniversary of GTA 3 which was released in 2001.
However, the celebration was not meant to be, and it’s been a troubled launch for Rockstar Games. At the time of writing, GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is averaging user review scores between 0.4 and 0.9 on Metacritic.
“Absolutely disgusting. Free mods are wayyyyy better than this 60$,” says a disgruntled user review. “I won’t give it a 0 since it is playable, but I would rather stick to playing the PS2 versions I downloaded digitally way before Rockstar removed them from the stores,” said another.
GTA Remastered Trilogy was temporarily removed by Rockstar Games
Over the weekend, Rockstar Games completely removed GTA: The Definitive Edition – The Trilogy from the Rockstar launcher on PC. It is believed that the game files included music tracks that needed to be removed, as well as files for Hot Coffee (if you know, you know). However, the game has since returned to the launcher for PC players.
I’ve put many hours into Grand Theft Auto: The Definitive Edition – The Trilogy so far and from what I’ve experienced, I’ve not had any issues. However, I do appreciate that it can vary on platforms, and everyone might have a dissimilar experience. On the other hand, our editor Olly has much stronger opinions on this.
Hopefully, for those that are experiencing issues, Rockstar Games will fix the problems as soon as possible.
