The logo for the next-generation of Xbox consoles, Xbox Series X, has reportedly been leaked, and the internet isn’t best pleased with what Microsoft has to offer. The logo was spotted after a trademark was filed by the company, and if this really is the final design, it’s a little…underwhelming. However, it might not all be doom and gloom, according to new reports.
People have been sharing their views on the apparent new logo across social media, with lots of people feeling it lacks flair and imagination.
One gamer tweeted: “The Xbox series X logo looks like a temporary tattoo out of a gum machine.”
Another said it doesn’t come close to the nostalgic original Xbox logo.
Though some people claim it “lacks personality“, others are applauding the logo’s “clean” look.
Microsoft has now responded to the leak, telling GamesRadar that the Xbox Series X logo trademark is “not indicative of final imagery.”
Personally, I’m hoping we don’t get this logo…although it looks sleek and trendy, it doesn’t exactly screaming “gaming” to me.
In related news, a new report [via WindowsCentral] suggests that Microsoft is gearing up for the reveal of a more budget-friendly next-gen console. Similar to the relationship between the Xbox One X and the Xbox One S, it’s presumed that the unannounced console(s) will follow the trend, probably with the name “Xbox Series S.”
The report states that the budget console is currently being developed under the name “Lockhart,” and aims to be an “entry point” for next-gen gaming. It’s expected to replace the need of the Xbox One X, which could mean we’re looking at a similar price tag.
While still being affordable, the new console is rumoured to include some elements of Series X though not all.
The Xbox Series X is due to land on store shelves by the end of 2020.
