Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the popular Final Fantasy series, has finished the gargantuan FFXIV in just over a month.
Somehow, Sakaguchi has beaten the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV free trial in only a month, which includes the entirety of A Realm Reborn AND the award-winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 with no restrictions on playtime.
Doing so is no joke. Heavensward alone averages between 73 and 349 hours on HowLongToBeat. But Sakaguchi managed to beat that expansion in two days. Now, the Final Fantasy creator is seemingly ready for the upcoming Endwalker expansion for FFXIV. It’s also nice to see he’s not working too hard.
Sakaguchi has been posting his progress with his Lalafell on Twitter, alongside some fun screenshots. In some cases, he’s been recreating moments from older games in the series. It’s definitely worth following his profile just for those alone.
FFXIV has seen a massive surge in popularity over the years. The game is the most profitable Final Fantasy ever, with over 24 million players to boot. It was so popular recently, that Square Enix’s own store apparently ran out of digital copies.
The game has certainly been successful in turning around its abysmal launch. Endwalker, the game’s next expansion, is set to round off the story started in A Realm Reborn. Ending a major story is quite rare in MMOs, so it’s sure to be interesting whatever the outcome.
