The delightful friendly feline game ‘Stray’ from Annapurna has a new release window, but it’s later than we thought.
Publisher Annapurna recently announced the delay of Stray at its showcase event. The show saw games like Solar Ash and Outer Wilds feature, but the game that lets you play as a cat in a cyberpunk setting clearly stole the show.
We first saw this adorable looking game in June last year when it was part of a Sony State of Play. Teased for the PS4 and PS5, the game will follow a stray cat as it navigates its way home through the city streets.
“Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly,” reads the game’s official description. ”See the world through the eyes of a stray and interact with the environment in playful ways.”
When will Stray release?
Until now, Stray was without a release window. Annapurna confirmed today that the game will arrive on PC, PS4 and PS5 in early 2022. That’s not too long to wait!
The new trailer gave us a fresh look at what we’ll be getting up to in Stray. This is the first look that we’ve gotten of actual gameplay. It’s a 3D platformer in which you’ll need to solve environmental puzzles to progress through the world. The graphics and animations look particularly stunning.
Along his travels, the cat befriends a drone known as B12. Together, the two of them learn more about the world that surrounds them as they traverse it’s squalid rooftops. As the game progresses, you’ll find new ways to defend yourself against enemies with some light combat.
