Former WWE Superstar turned Hollywood star Dave Bautista has said goodbye to Drax and The Guardians of the Galaxy.
This is not the first time that Bautista has said Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will be his last outing as The Destroyer. “Drax isn’t going anywhere. He just won’t be played by this dude!” tweeted Bautista in 2021. “By the time G3 comes out, I’ll be 54-years old for god’s sake! I’m expecting everything to start sagging any second now.”
To be honest, as much as I love Guardians of the Galaxy, I’m not sure how I’d feel having someone else play Drax. Bautista was perfect in this role and more than made it his own. If someone new was to be cast as Drax, they’d have big shoes to fill.
We love Drax!
However, in a recent Instagram post, Dave Bautista all but made it official that he’s retiring as the loveable, but badass Drax. While filming of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has wrapped up, Drax will also appear in Thor: Love and Thunder.
“Haven’t found the words yet,” Bautista wrote accompanied by a photo with his fellow cast members of GoTG3. “It ended so suddenly, and I was on to my next film before I could process it all. End of a journey that changed my life.”

Thor: Love and Thunder will release in cinemas this July, while Guardians of the Galaxy 3 arrives in 2023.
