The Pokemon Company isn't done with Hisui.

Pokemon Is Getting A New Online-Only Anime Set In Hisui

A new online-only Pokemon anime based on the Hisui region from Pokémon Legends: Arceus has been announced.

As part of yesterday’s (February 27) Pokemon Presents, The Pokemon Company revealed that a new anime is in the works. The announcement was only a brief one. But we were shown a piece of artwork showing off a resident of Hisui in a snow covered woods. And the shadow of a Hisuian Zorua looms over them in the foreground.

The online-only anime will apparently have an original story set in the Hisui region. But it will be separate from the events of the game. A specific release date was not confirmed, but we know it should be released sometime in 2022.

The Pokemon Company producing online-only anime seems to be something they are opting to do more of these days. When Pokemon Sword and Shield came out, an anime called Pokemon Twilight Wings was released. Twilight Wings was mostly a series of shorts based on various characters in the Galar region. But they were a great way to spend more time with the characters. And it had a unique animation style compared to the main series.

Of course the biggest announcement to come from the Pokemon Presents was the news of the ninth generation of games, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The next generation of games seem like they will be fully open world, a step forward from Legends Arceus’ different maps you can visit. We don’t know much about this new gen yet other than it will be released late this year. And we did get a first look at the starters too (Quaxly forever).
